Retractable Screen FAQ
Straight answers to the questions we hear most. If yours is not here, call us.
What is a retractable patio screen?
It is a fine mesh screen that rolls down from a slim housing to close in the open side of a patio, porch, garage or pergola, and rolls back up when you want the opening clear.
Will the screen block my view?
No. The fabric is a see-through mesh, and when you roll the screen up it disappears into its housing. Denser sun-control and privacy fabrics give a softer view.
How does a motorized screen work?
A motor in the housing turns a roller. You press a button on a remote or wall switch and the screen lowers or raises smoothly along its tracks.
Will the screens keep out mosquitoes and gnats?
A fine mesh in a well-fitted track keeps out the great majority of flying insects. No screen is perfect, and we will be honest about what to expect.
Can I screen only part of my patio?
Yes. Each screen works on its own, so you can screen the sides that get the most sun or bugs and leave the others open, or add more later.
Do you offer free consultations?
Yes. We look at your space, answer your questions and recommend a layout and fabric at no charge.
What areas do you serve?
Nashville and Middle Tennessee, including Franklin, Brentwood, Nolensville, College Grove, Columbia, Spring Hill, Thompson’s Station, Murfreesboro, Smyrna, La Vergne, Antioch, Madison, Hermitage, Bellevue, Goodlettsville, Gallatin, Hendersonville, Lebanon and Mt. Juliet.
Do you service screens after they are installed?
Yes. 615 Screen sells, installs and services motorized retractable screens, and we may be able to help with screens installed by others too.
Do the screens work in wind?
Retractable screens should be raised in strong winds. We will explain how to use yours during your consultation.
Can screens be added to a covered patio I already have?
Often yes. We check the structure for solid mounting points and measure every opening.
Can screens be used on a porch or deck?
Yes, as long as there is a roof or beam to mount to.
Can I leave the screen down all summer?
Yes. Screens are made to be used often.
Can I have different fabrics on different sides?
Yes. Many homeowners use sun control on the sunny side and insect screen elsewhere.
What control options are there?
Screens are motorized and operate from a remote or wall switch. Ask us about other control options.
Are the screens safe around pets and children?
A screen is a soft barrier that helps keep pets and kids in the patio. Like any motorized product, it should be operated by adults, and we will show you how it works.
How long does installation take?
It depends on the number and size of screens. After we measure we will give you a clear timeline.
How do I clean the screen?
Ask us for care instructions during your consultation. In general, a gentle rinse and a soft brush are usually all that is needed.
Do you offer commercial installations?
Yes. We install screens for restaurants, venues and other businesses.
